The Atlanta Renewal Community Coordinating Responsible Authority, Inc. (ACoRA) works to help those neighborhoods most economically distressed and underserved to grow and become places where residents and business owners can live and flourish.

 

ACoRA Summit 2007The ACoRA was designated by the City of Atlanta as the non-profit corporation charged with facilitating the use of special federal business tax incentives and guiding the investment of more than $53 million in Title XX funds remaining from the City’s former 1994 Empowerment Zone (EZ) designation. ACoRA’s seven-member board of directors retained Enterprise Community Partners as its management entity in February 2005. 

 

The investment of the Title XX funds is guided by the Integrated Strategic Plan.

(ISP). Families and CommunitiesThe funding of the business tax incentives is directed by the Tax Incentive Utilization Plan. Through these funding resources and tax incentives, ACoRA is committed to investing in people, businesses and neighborhoods.

 

ACoRA encourages community-based organizations to apply for the Title XX funds available for investments. It also recommends that business owners, developers, investors use the special tax incentives and funding opportunities for RC businesses. 

 

ACoRA's services are available at no cost, and experienced managers are available to assist in with the application process and securing funds.

 

Vision

The ACoRA envisions healthy, vibrant neighborhoods in those areas of Atlanta where there has been persistent poverty and disenfranchisement.

 

Mission

ACoRA Board and Staff will continue to achieve its mission by aggressively marketing RC Tax Incentives and facilitating the leveraged investment of Title XX dollars “in a manner that increases the capacity of residents to be self-sufficient and assist them in revitalizing and strengthening the physical environments in which they live.”

 

Values 

The ACoRA’s mission is to oversee the utilization of the RC tax incentives and Title XX funds for community-based development in Atlanta’s poorest neighborhoods. ACoRA pursues this work in a  manner that increases the capacity of residents of those communities to be self-sufficient and assists them in revitalizing and strengthening the physical environments in which they live.  To achieve its mission, the ACoRA will be guided in its decision by the core values and beliefs listed below:

Core Values & Beliefs:

  •  People are important – people build communities.
  • Community involvement is imperative and must be encouraged and promoted.
  • Rehabilitation of existing corridors and leveraging existing community assets are important to revitalizing neighborhoods.
  • Impact of Renewal Community efforts must be sustainable and measurable.
  • Problems should be addressed at the root cause.
  • Investments should directly benefit RC/EZ residents.
